A little bit about four paws….
Four Paws Dog Training is run by Kathryn Roughley her Puppy Foundation & Junior Courses, are run on Thursday evenings at the Old School Hall, in Ulnes Walton, Nr Leyland, PR26 8LT.
The Puppy Foundation Course is run for 6 weeks. This course is for puppies from 12 weeks to 20 weeks old, so puppies in class are of a similar age.
The Junior course is run for 5 weeks, and for dogs from 6 months to 1 year of age, that have completed a Puppy Foundation Course, are used to a class environment, and their owners now wish to further their dogs training.
Kathryn has had dogs all of her life, and currently owns a Golden Retriever. She has been involved with various gundog rescues since 2002, and for 10 years was heavily involved in” front line” rescue where she assessed dogs, and re-homed hundreds of dogs into their new home.
She still volunteers her time to help local rescues with training, assessing dogs before they go into their new home, doing home assessments, and helping at Fundraisers.
She was always interested in how a dogs mind worked, and the training methods used in teaching dogs. After completing her written training course with the ADTB, she attended training classes and passed a practical assessment, in order to gain the “Approved Gold Level Instructor” status.
Kathryn is a member of the Pet Professional Guild (British Isles), the National Register of Dog Trainers & Behaviourists, has gained the ISCP Basic Dog Behaviour Award, is a member of Sarah Whiteheads “Think Dog” inner circle for Dog Trainers & Behaviourists, and has recently completed two Ian Dunbar “Sirius” Dog Training Courses.
The training classes at Four Paws use fun and effective ways to train your dog by using reward based training. Kathryn believes that this is the best way to train your dog. The classes are run in a friendly manner, as dog training should be as much fun for the owner as it is for the dog.
The classes at Four Paws are structured, so you will learn something new every week.
Kathryn also recognises that each dog and person are unique, and that different techniques and approaches are required with different dogs and people, she is also always there to help or answer any questions that you may have, so don’t be afraid to ask.
